Irish Anarchist Review #7

The WSM have published the seventh IAR! The Irish Anarchist Review is the political magazine from the Workers Solidarity Movement.  This magazine will explore ideas and practical struggles that can teach us about building a revolutionary movement today. They “decided to cease printing Red & Black Revolution, and start this project, aimed at provoking debate and discussion among anarchists and the left. For this purpose, we will be pursuing a non-sectarian approach, taking ideas from various left currents, mainstream discourse, and reflections on experiences of life and struggle. We will take, print, and discuss, anything that we find useful for our needs. We hope that readers will have a similar attitude, and will use the magazine to discuss, debate and develop ideas. We will also welcome submissions and responses to articles.”

Election and CAHWT stickers

Here are two more sticker designs produced by Irish Anarchists, one was designed before the last election and the Campaign Against Household and Water Taxes one has been out a couple of months and can probably be found on a lamp post near you. If you would like a couple of these then get in touch with the Workers Solidarity Movement who should be able to supply you with some.

We’ve been busy here at irishanarchism.org, preparing, printing and distributing a series of eight new stickers for your viewing pleasure.  If you’d like to get your paws on a few then get in contact with the guys and girls of the WSM who are the main distributors of the series. Whoever we vote for the IMF/ECB will win the Irish 2011 election.

It has become clear over the past 6 months that the real powers in Ireland are the IMF/ECB along with the wealthy Irish elite. Anarchists have always argued that ordinary people cannot vote our way out of our problems. Real change comes from organising at work and in our communities. No matter who gets voted in the wealthy remain in charge, and this is why we say that the elections are a dead end for change, and that real democracy isn’t ticking a box once every five years.

The W.S.M. is the biggest Anarchist organisation in Ireland. They are a socialist or what some people refer to as communist anarchist organisation. They argue the core points of anarchism – economic, social and individual freedom can be only be achieved through Socialism. The W.S.M. struggle to achieve this change through class struggle. This is a belief that ordinary people – working people, must organise themselves to achieve the change they want and don’t need politicians to tell us how to live our lives.
